I have been reading with delight of the suc—
cess of the suffrage measure in the Texas legislature. I an look—
ing hopefully for complete victory.I wish it to red und as much
as pessible te the success of our cause over the wnele “nited Qtatea,

and to aid in teat, I long to nave yeu come to the Kississippi Vela
ley Conference.

It has been arranged that at the zonference the subject of Fed—
eral Suffrage, that is the right of women to vote by actian of Gene
grese for H.S. Congressmen and "enators, shall be given full discus»

sien. You know a resolutien was passed at the N.'. . .ﬁ. Con—
ventien in Eashville that the Cengressitnal Com.of the Latienal
sheuld ”investigate and promote” this right; but because the cenVen»

tien wss so much taken up with the ”.€.Can.Amendment very little
theught was given to the federal °uffrsge. which I censider a much
more valuable and bipeful measure than a ".G,Amendment; for it can
be given us by a simple majority vote of both Houses, witheut any
reference to the States; and with that much political pewer the wom—
en czuld gain for themselves censtituticnul amendments in the sever

al states.

The thing which makes it pre—eminently a desirable measure for

the Seuthern ?tstes is that it Gees not in any way cenflict with

States' Rights, and therefore cannet excite the stubborn orpesitien
