HONORS DAY ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT EXHIBIT A
The exhibit co—sponsored by the Libraries and the Art Museum I
in conjunction with the April 14 Honors Day program was a success
due to the many library staff members who contributed their `.
talents and time. `
Mike Lach, Paula Pope, Jim Birchfield, and Bill Marshall 4
_ formed the nucleus of the planning group. Jim and Bill designed
and set up the display, with help from Mary McLaren in setting up 4
on April 14. Cheri Nickell assisted Paula Pope in tracking and ‘
recording all of the exhibit materials; she also typed all of the (
display cards. Janet Stith collected materials from the Medical
faculty and Dan Hodge did the same for Architecture.
Rick Garrett, Rob Turner, and Cecil Madison provided ‘
transportation for the exhibit to and from the Center for the
Arts. ..
The exhibit was staffed by members of LSO during the
afternoon. Those who served as attendants were Betsy Baird,
Lillian Mesner, Kathy Martin, Jessie Adams, Nazee Depp, Sara ·
McPherson, Karen Cline, Lori Duncan, Rick Gay, Loree Pennock,

LIBRARY ASSOCIATES ANNUAL BOOK SALE
This year's Annual Book Sale, held April 21-22 was one of
the most profitable in recent years, raising $4,317. Many
library faculty and staff assisted with set—up and clean-up for
the sale, as well as working during the course of the sale.

 SLA ; Q[EKOU§ ANNUAL DINNER
The Kentucky Chapter of Special Libraries Association and
the Central/Eastern Kentucky Online Users Group will hold their
annual dinner meeting on Wednesday, May 18, at the Holiday Inn —
North in Lexington. There will be a cash bar at 5:45 and dinner
will follow at 6:30 p.m.
The featured speaker for the event will be Steve Arnold of
UMI/Data Courier who will speak on "Copyright: Database
downloading and CD-ROM —~ Things are changing!"
Reservations for the dinner are $14 for members and $17 for
non—members. You may choose either a regular or vegetarian

The Lexington~Fayette County Urban County Government will
test the early warning broadcast system sirens at 11:30 a.m. on
the first wednesday of every month. The routine testing of the .
equipment is intended to generate public awareness of hazards
arising from severe weather, chemical releases and other
emergencies.
FIRE ALARM TEST
There will be a routine fire alarm test in King North and
South between 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3.

Columbia University°s Rare Book School will again be offered
in June, 1988. The school, which runs from June 6 — July 1,
offers various five—day courses on topics concerning rare books
