Dear Victor.

Many thanks for your letter and for the picture and .rticle which
aCcomparLied it. I was very interested in the .1ict11re- which I had. seen before
in a retalne which Brother Giles had, but more so in the article about it.
I am happy that you want to print Prometheus.
I have asked Father Abbot what we ought to do. The ntmber of} copies,
seventy five, is fine. But we thought of another way of 11 T1dling the cost.
If you sell copies of the meditation, it will have to be censored. fnc this is
such an inorcL’nate amount of trouble, that for a small thin? of this sort, and
particularly for a small edition, it is hardly mrth while. '31e censors begin
by keeping: every manuscriot for three or four nont1r-s if not more. Then, if they
don't lose it, they find. an excuse for causing all kinds oi‘ trouble over the
slightest things. rIhen the abbot Genera 1 gets up in the air about it, and in the end
we end up where we started, because there is usually notlii ng wrong an tway. In order
not to have to spend the next five months in a teapot tezipes* 1; over soni1et1ing that
is for all practical purposes a manuscript,T -_ thin: it would just be best for us to
pay the costs, and distribute the work, leaving you of co” 'se as many COpies ELF-you
want for yourselves.
is the best th .ng to do and ii“ you tent to print fewer than seventy
that is all right i-JitL Us too. In a 1101171., this is again an ”excuse for
not a c01‘1‘1ercial venture or the désseminat ion of a 1:1ess..ge or anything
ater on, the thing will probably "0 into a book, an ,i then it Wl till be

31 ad to get the new material on Ecuadmo It is of 1113.111 (1 '1th and

aincr enclosed.

Once again I close in rushing you a t-zonderfrl trip to Ihirope. I will be
with you in sr'éirit, especially at ffolbsheim. 1"..11d. of course please remember he very
warmly to the mom-:5 and Don [mgelico if you go to see them.
