QQ: The Quick Cataloging section (a new part of the Cataloging Dept. MIK)
is now in its third week of operation and most of the training and
orientation procedures and problems have been ironed cut. Last week, with
the group spending over l/2 its time in training and maintaining other
assigned duties, 353 titles were cataloged through QC. This was an
increase of about lOO titles over the number cataloged the first week in
operation.
QC is now processing books with LC copy for MIK and all departmental
libraries except Art and Math. The section has thus far been successful
in cataloging daily all books routed to it from Acquisitions and has also
been able to begin chipping away the general Cataloging backlog. .
