RA638-M—2~—SCIENCE BRINGS SANITATION.

At a safe distance from the residential section, a permanent sewage
disposal system is being built for Greenbelt. This huge circular
tank has been carefully designed for permanence and avoidance of
breakdowns and stoppages. A crushed rock filter laid over the
broken tile seen in the picture will effectively prevent sludge from
stopping the drainage outlets in the bottom of the tank. The layer
of broken tiles serves to prevent the necessity of constant sludge
removal. Here, too, provisions have been made for any growth of the
town. Both the size of the tank and the number of mains laid will
