"Summons served on me 7.35 am to-day case J. G. Brashear vs myself to
meer in 10 days in J stice Ed Combs Corirt Perry County. This is for cow
killed by train and is inten'ed as suit: against R R Co. Beingsiignorant of

Coyy of Section Foreman's report is attached hereto. Our Stock Claim Agent;
says that the cow was slightly crippled and that he offered $30.70 inse ,tlement but:

it If in your opinion it will cost us in excess of What he claims to defend
the suit then I would reoomend that; it be paid without such. However, we are at the
extremei‘disadvantagie in these cases in all respects, both as to the exhorbitant ainou ts
asked for and competent witnesses to uphold our side.

Dear Sir:
On July 29, 1916, there was filed in the

Justice Court at Hamden an action against Luther Baker
by J . e. Brashear, in which it isallevgedthnattl‘em
railroad train féﬁ 5.8. and killed one of Brashear’s
cattle. This is our information and What we gather
from the process in the case, this being the only
paper we have, and as you know, they never file a
petition in the Justice Court. They sinply issue
summons.

This is for killing a cow, and this letter
will serve in place of the three copies of the petition
and docket report that we usually send.
