for Tuesday, March 24, 1931.


     The Executive Com-mitt'ee of the Board of Trustees of the Uni-

     2. Library Stacks. The installation of library stacks and
delivery system for books in the library was discussed.  Presi-
dent hcVey made a statement that these items were not included
in the contract for the building and to irstall them would cost
between $15,000 and $20,000, depending on the character of the work.
After consideration, a motion was mrade, seconded., and carried that
these items be left for future consideration after the budget is
ready.

     3. Progress of Buildings.   President ::cVey reported the prog-
ress on the various buildings now in construction at the University.
He indicated that the Library will be completed about April 1, 1931'
that the Observatory is -etty well on toward completion; a-id that
progress is being made on the other buildings now under construc-
tion.

     4. Budget for 1931-1932.   The preliminary consideration of
the budget for 1931-1932 was brought before the Conm-nittee, and
President 'MIcVey made a brief statement regarding the prospective
inopme and expenditures for the coming year.   He indicated tht
he would have the budget ready for consideration at the next meet-
ing.

     5. Tax on Mineral Rights at Robinson Sub-Experiment Station.
President 7cVey stated to the Com.rnmittee that ar. 0. E. Robinson
had recently given to the University the coal rTights in the Uni-
versity property at Quicksand. , Taxes on these, ha ever, were not
paid for last year, and the Breathitt County authorities are asking
the University to pay the taxes.   The matter was referred back
to the president with instructions to have the matter taken up with
the sudge of the fiscal murt for adjustment.

     6. Exhibit at the Worldts Fair, 1932. The following resolu-
tion regarding the Kentucky exhibit at the World's Fair in Chicago
in 1932 was offered, seconded, and adopted:

          That the College of Agriculture and the.Agricultura1
     Experiment Station accept the invitation to prepare a to-
     bacco exhibit for the "Century of Progress," World's Fair,
     at Chicago, in 1932, provided that the necessary space
     shall be furnished by the fair officials, and that all funds
     required for such exhibit shall be provided either through
     direct appropriation on the part of the state, or through
     the "Century of Progress" state committee; the pronosed
     gereral plans for the exhibit and expenditure will be pre-
     sented to the Board of Trustees for its consideration.

     7. Salaries of County Agents. President 1 cVey stated to
the Committee that a num.i'ber of county agents in a nunAber of the
counties are not able to collect their salaries from. the counties
and that a portion of their salaries is being paid by warrants
which these agents are not able to cash.   He asked that a plan
be worked out whereby the county agetts can have their salaries
advanced by assigning future salaries against the advance so
made on uncollected warrants.   The Latter was discussed and ad-
ditional information was requested aa to possible cost.

     8, Purchase of 1Multigraph. A reouest from the Exoerii.-Cent
Station for the purchase of a multigraph was presented to the Com-
mittee. After a discussion a motion was made, seconded, and
adopted authorizing the purchase of the multigraph.

     9. Report on Insurance. At a previous -nfeeting of the Com-
mittee Mr. Scott of Klair and Scott made some suggestions in
regard to changes in buildings which would affect the insurance
rate of the University.   These suggestions were referred to the
Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for a report.   A mnotion
was .hade, seconded, and carried reqiuesting the Superintendent of
Buildings and Grounds to have ready at the next meeting of the
Board a report which will sho-w the cost of making the changes
recommended by the insurance agent.

    10. House Bothers for Fraternities.   otion was maade,
seconded, and carried that after July-l, 1932, all fraternities
at the University shall employ house motIers who shall be acce-pt-
able to the University of Kentucky, and employed under such regu-
lations as the University of Kentucky may prescribe.

    11. Appointments, Resignations, and Leaves of Absence.    The
following list of appointments, resignations, and leaves of ab-
sence was presented and on motion, duly seconded, approved:

     Appointment of Weiss Katherine Ham.mack as secretary to the
Placement Bureau at a salary of $80.00 a month effective Larch
15, 1931.

      Temporary appointment of :iss Elizabeth Wood as secretary
to the Department of Horme Economics Education at a salary of
460 a month effective February 1, 1931.

     Appointment of Miss Mary Holloway as office assistant in
Trnglish at a stipend of $40 a month, effective February 15, 1931.

     Appointment of Piss Lilian i. Lindenbergen as mnatron at
Smith Hall for the year 1931-1932 at a salary of $750.

stration agent, Ohio County, at a salary of $150 a month, effective
larch 1, 1931, to January 30, 1932.

     Appointment of i . J. B. Williams, assistant County Agent,
 Tayette County, at a salary of 100 a month, effective March
 1, to June 30, 1931.

     Appointment of Mtiss Isiria Jay, assistant Home DemoxEtlation
Agent, Hopkins County, at a salary of $100 a month, effective
February 20 to March 31, 1931.

     Resignation of Mai Douglas Lander as secretary to the Plac-
ment Bureau, effective MHarch 15, 1931e

     Continuation of employment of Aaron Lee, county agent, 1'c-
Preary County, from M1arch 1 to December 1, 1931, at a salary of
,$150 a month was approved,

     The continuation of employment of S. L. Isabell, county agent,
Floyd County, from March 16 to December 31, 1931, at a salary of
.150 a monthwas approved.

     The appointment of R~aymone. Gilbert as assistant county agent,
:Iarion County, trom '-arch 23 to June 30, 1931, at a salary of
125 a month was approved.

     The appointment of .iss Richie Stevenson, as home de-mzonstra-
tion agent  Hardin County, from .'arch 17 to June 30, 1931, at a
salary of $150 a month was approved.

     The continuation of employment of H. B. Cravens as county
agent, Breathitt County, from Mtarch 1 to June 30, 1931, at a sal-
ary of $166 2/3 a month was approved.

     Resignation of Miss Katherine 0,9rr as office assistant in
the Department of English, February 15 193'., was accepted.

     Termination of employment of l.r. .T. E. Williamson, tobacco
grader at 1.1ayfield, at the close of business ::arch 31, 1931.

     Termination of employment of 1M'r. J. Z. Farmer and tar. J. W.
3reathitt, tobacco graders at Paduca.h at the close of business
March 7, 1931.

     Resig-nation of lirs. Katherine Lyon as secretary to the Ath-
letic Association, effective May 1, 1931.

     Leave of absence for thirty days from. August 9 to September
8' 1931, with pay was granted to Dr. W. D. Nicholls for the pur-
pose of travel in Europe.
