IMPORTANT MEETING SLATED
The Staff Development Committee has invited Harry Snyder, Executive Director of
the Council on Higher Education, to speak to the library staff. The meeting will
be held November 21, at 10:30 AM in the Gallery.
The Council is the organization which governs the majority of activities concerning
higher education in Kentucky. As Mr. Snyder will be explaining the organization
and its related functions, it would be in your best interest to attend. (Editor's
note: The Council, so far, has been resisting efforts to make the University of
Louisville the main campus of the University of Kentucky and changing our name to
"The University of Kentucky at Lexington.") _____A ·~

AND WE THOUGHT PAUL WILLIS HAD_PBpBLEM§L
v Just prior to the opening of the fall term, the six year old, twenty—eight story
University of Massachusetts at Amherst Library building was closed because of the
danger of bricks falling from its.faqade. According to Amherst campus
Chancellor Henry Koffler, it may be necessary to replace the entire brick front of
the edifice. In the meantime, the student body is barred from the library. The
staff and a portion of the collection have been moved back into the old library
building.
"While other libraries are closing their catalogs," said a spokesman recently, "at
U. Mass. we have closed the Library."
PROJECT AHEAD INTERNSHIPS FOR_WDMEN
’ For the past two years, Project Ahead, supported by a FIPSE grant, provided internship
opportunities and related career services to women students aged 25 and older. The
grant period formally ended in June; since July, the project has been carried on
through the budget and administration of the Office for Experiential Education.
Besides the internship placements and career services, such as speakers from various
professions and skills-building workshops, the project aims to build a resource and
information library for women. Any articles, bibliographies or references on women's
issues that could be contributed to help build this resource would be greatly appre-
ciated.
Project Ahead is committed to building networks for women on campus and in the
community, by providing the Women's Place——an informal atmosphere for meeting other
women, exchanging ideas over a cup of coffee or lunch, browsing through the resource
library and periodicals, finding information on current campus and community activities.
If you want to be on the newsletter mailing list or would like to have further infor-
mation contact Amy Suite, Ligon House, 658 South Limestone Street, 258-8707.
