Staff Organization Reception:
The Library Staff Organization cordially invites the Library
faculty and staff to a reception for the author John Gardner
at 4 PM on Monday, 24 January 1977, in the Department of
Special Collections. Jean Robinson (Cataloging) will be in
charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Gardner is the author of October Light (Knopf, 1976),
Grendel, The Sunlight Dialogues, and the libretto for the
opera Rumpelstiltskin currently in production at the UK
School of Music. He has taught medieval literature at Southern y_
Illinois University and currently teaches in Vermont.
King Library Press sponsors lecture on papermaking:
An illustrated lecture on Japanese and Mexican handmade papers
will be given in Room 118, Classroom Building, on 28 January
1977 at 11:00 AM. The event is sponsored by the Department of
Art and the King Library Press and is free and open to the
public.
The lecture, which includes slides and videotape presentations,
will be given by the proprietors of Twinrocker, Inc., of Brookston,
Indiana, who have been cited as one of four leading high—qua1ity l
handmade paper companies in America today. Besides talking about
their own work, which is in the European papermaking tradition,
they will discuss the history and technique of papermaking in —
Japan and Mexico. They will also display examples of fine papers,
including pieces by Eishiro Abe, the foremost Japanese hand
papermaker.
Twinrocker, Inc., sells papers to clients across the country,
and recently exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in
New York City.
New-Subject Guides compiled:
The King Library reference department has compiled two new
Subject Guides to Research: No. 14 Psychology and No. 15
Gerontology. If you are interested in having copies please
. contact the department. All of the guides in the series have
been revised during the past months. They are: No. 1. Women's

Ink Drawings by Mike Sleadd:
` An exhibit of ink drawings by Mike Sleadd recently opened in
the Art Library and will run through 12 February. Mr. Sleadd
is a 1973 graduate of Georgetown College and has worked for
KET. He is currently employed as an artist for the Department
of Public Information at UK. g
Administrative Services News:
There will be a change in the form as well as the location of
Administrative Services duplicating efforts. As of Monday,
24 January 1977, no longer send stencils to Cliff in the base-
ment area. Instead, please send your items to be duplicated
in original, not stencil form, to Bob Turner in Room 30l King
North. We have acquired some new duplicating equipment that
allows us to make master copies from originals thus eliminating
the need for typing stencils. lf you would like to see what
can be done with our new equipment, contact Bob Turner (8-2831).
MINI REVIEII
A recent acquisition in the Bibliography Room of King Library
is Ethnic Information Sources of the United States, by Paul
Wasserman and Jean Morgan, eds., Detroit, Gale, 1976.

Interest in the multi-ethnic origin of citizens of the United
States has created a need for this work that includes 26 cata-
gories of information sources about 89 ethnic groups. (Blacks,
American Indians and Eskimos are excluded because of extensive
coverage elsewhere). Among the catagories covered are research
centers, ethnic newspapers and magazines, ethnic festivals and
celebrations in the United States, bookdealers and publishers
as well as a bibliographic component offering detail of books,
pamphlets and audiovisuals.
