There's nothing wrong with a little materialism.
We'll admit it. One of the selling features of Army ROTC is just plain cold cash . . . nearly $2000 during your junior and senior years of college. There's also the opportunity for full-tuition scholarships. And a S 10.000 a year salary as an Army officer when you graduate.
But we've got other good things to offer you, too. College courses which challenge you both mentally and physically. Management training and experience you'll find valuable in civilian as well as military jobs. And instant leadership responsibility in your first job after college.
If any of this interests you, check out Army ROTC. And even if you enroll just for the money, you'll graduate with something worth a lot more . . . gold bars of an Army officer.
ARMY ROTC. LEARN WHAT IT TAKES TO LEAD.

Rumpelstiltskin
"Rumpelstiltskin," a delightful contemporary opera adapted from the well-known German folktale, will be premiered Jan. 21-23 at the Lexington Opera House.
Presented by the University of Kentucky School of Music, the music for the two-act opera was written by Joseph Baber of the UK music faculty and libretto is by John Gardner, professor of English at Southern Illinois University.
The opera is a collaboration of the UK Opera Workshop, directed by Phyllis Jenness, and the UK Orchestra, conducted by Phillip Miller. Horace Kelley, director of the Stephen Foster Story, is responsible for stage and technical direction.
"Rumpelstiltskin is a bit sophisticated for children, despite the nature of the story," Miss Jenness said. "Musically, it is somewhere between an opera and musical comedy and full of delightful, singable tunes."
The German story tells how the gnome, Rumpelstiltskin, threatens to take the first-born child of Aurolia, the miller's daughter, if she cannot guess his name.
In addition, the opera cast includes the royal family, their courtiers and knights, the villagers, and even a dancing bear.
Performances for the opera are set for 8 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, Jan. 21 and 23, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22. Tickets are $3.00 for the floor and first balcony, $2.00 for the second balcony, and $1.00 for UK students with ID cards, and children. All seats are reserved.
For further information concerning tickets, telephone (606) 258-4900.
Mail orders are now being accepted. Make checks payable to the University of Kentucky and mail to Rumpelstiltskin Tickets, 300 Rose Lane, Lexington (40506).
JO The Wildcats Lost To Georgia 86-81 February 9, 1976 In Athens
The last time the Wildcats faced the University of Georgia Bulldogs was February 9, 1976 in Athens. The Cats came away on the losing end of an 86-81 decision.
The Wildcats connected on only 11 of 23 attempts at the foul line, missing a potential four points in the last 3:50. Kentucky still had a 79-75 advantage when Mike Phillips failed to connect on two free throws after being fouled by Georgia's Lucius Foster.
Seconds later, Larry Johnson missed two from the foul line and Georgia put in six straight points for the win.
It was Georgia's first win over the Cats in nine tries.

CAWOOD LEDFORD
"Kentucky's home floor winning streak started against Ft. Knox on January 4, 1943, following a loss to Ohio State two nights earlier. Before Georgia Tech snapped the string the Wildcats had posted a national record 129 consecutive victories. All told since the Ohio State loss, the Wildcats have won 396 and lost only 39 at home. Since Memorial Coliseum became the home floor at the start of the 1950 51 season the record is 312-39. In Rupp Arena the record is 4-1.
Since the Wildcat record dated back over twelve years most of the people who came to the Georgia Tech game on January 8, 1955, had never seen them lose. They might have heard them lose on the radiodidn't have television then to any great extent.
Georgia Tech came in here to play and I remember that I sat around that afternoon looking up a lot of things on subs that hadn't played much because I was sure they'd get into the ballgame early. As it happened Georgia Tech intercepted a pass right at the end of the game, drove down, made the basket a layup and won by one point and at the end of the game it must have been a full minute before a single soul moved from his seat. They sat there is absolutely stunned silence. They could not believe it.
