Q Fall Faculty Meeting Scheduled:
i The annual fall faculty meeting has been set for October l, 1976,
I 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. at the Carnahan House. The Staff Develop-
ment Committee has decided to devote the afternoon to small group
discussion sessions. If anyone has ideas for topics or has spe-
cific articles which could be used as a basis for discussion,
please let Faith Harders know prior to the September 3 faculty
meeting.
Information coordinator/newsletter editor:
David Farrell has been reappointed information coordinator/news-
letter editor for the Libraries. In the former capacity he is
responsible for disseminating general information to the Univer-
sity community and public at large. He has a limited budget for
publicity/information matters and is available to work with
individuals and departments. All general University mailings or
public release of information should be done through the coordi-
i nator.
K As editor of the Green Bean, he welcomes any news item of general
, interest to the Libraries. wednesday noon is deadline for each
Friday's issue. Comments, suggestions, and volunteer reporters
are welcome!
Guide published:
The GUIDE TO THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY LIBRARIES has been revised
I and reprinted. Single copies can be obtained at the Circulation
' and Reference Departments. Requests for large quantities should
be made to Instructional Services, phone 7-1025.

. The preliminary program for KLA's annual meeting (Oct. 7-9 at
Louisville) has been announced by Vivian Hall, president-elect. The
three day meeting features many topics of interest and several UK
librarians are on the program.
Included on the program are:
"The Library Technician" (a panel chaired by Lee Hisle and including
Lynn”ShrewSbury); "Belly Dancing: what it can do for your library";
"Collection Development in Academic Libraries"; "Closing the Card
Catalog" (Lois Chan is chairperson and Gail Kennedy is on the panel);
"The_Value of Professional Societies" (featuring Bess Clotfelter);
"Effective Personnel Management and Motivation", and others.
Others on the UK staff who are participating include Paul Willis,
who will chair both the SAALCK (State Assisted Academic Librarians
Council of Kentucky) and the Interlibrary Loan Cooperation Com ittee
meetings; and Vivian McQuown, who will speak on the British Lending
Library.

Registration is $5.00 for members and $7.00 for non-members; smaller‘
fees for half days. Additional information is available from Vivian
Hall, Geology Library. If you plan to attend, let Faith Harders
know as soon as possible. -

following: Bill James, Cheryl Jones, Susan Csaky and Paul Willis,
who are together teaching Legal Bibliography in the Law School;
Ed O'Hara is teaching Acquisitions and Gail Kennedy and John
Bryant are teaching Cataloging in the School of Library Science.

New Staff:
Margaret Lewis, who has a master's in education from Western
Kentucky Univ., will be working in GPD.
Cheri Vittotow has recently moved to Lexington from Lousiville
and will be working in the Law Library. ·
Cathy Cooper, a new graduate student in the Library School, will
be working on the Oral History Project.
The following temporary, one year, appointments have been made:
John Gray will continue with Administrative Services on a full-
time basis.
Brad Grissom, a recent graduate of uk Library School, will be
working in Cataloging.
Martha Jane Whiteside, who has her MLS from the Univ. of Chicago
and worked in our Acquisitions Dept. several years ago, is
returning for one year as the interim department head for GPD.
