Cumberland Medical Center, Somerset, Kentucky.

The Masonic Service was held in the Chapel, Pulaski Funeral Home,
Somerset, Kentucky at 7:30 pm. with the R.'.W.'.James B. Elliott, Past
Grand Master, The Grand Lodge of Kentucky, presiding.

The Grand Lodge of Kentucky was officially represented by M.'..'.W
Kenneth C. Morgan, Grand Master, R.'.C..WH Kenneth Farley, Grand
Senior Warden, R.'.W.'.J. C. McClanahan, Past Grand Master, Grand Sec—
retary and R.'.W.'.James B. Elliott, Past Grand Master.

Funeral Services were held in the Chapel, Pulaski Funeral Home,
Somerset, Kentucky at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19, 1981. The Rev—
erend John Savage, Pastor of the Burnside United Methodist Church
officiating.

 

 Burial was in the Burnside Cemetery, Burnside, Kentucky.

Brother Lewis was born in Quinton, Pulaski County, Kentucky on
October 17, 1893 the son of Robert O. and Alice F. Lewis. On December
27, 1916, Brother Lewis married Ruth Upton who preceded him in death.
To this union was born Robert Thomas and Helen Frances.

Brother Lewis received his education in Burnside High School,
Lindsey Wilson Junior College and Berea College.

Brother Lewis was a member of the Burnside United Methodist Church
of Burnside having joined at the age of thirteen. He loved and served his
church well, holding several offices and was actively serving until his
illness.

Brother Lewis served his community in many capacities. In 1928 he
became a Texaco Distributor and in 1950 became President of the J. Heber
Lewis Oil Company, Inc. 1951 started Southeastern Tank Lines. Mayor of
Burnside 1941-1970. Past Director of the Citizens National Bank. Past
President and Director of the Kentucky Petroleum Council, Kentucky
J obbers Council and the Kentucky Petroleum Marketers Association. Past
Chairman and Director of Lindsey Wilson Junior College, recipient Dis-
tinguished Alumnus Award. Past President of the Burnside Chamber of
Commerce. Past Director of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. Mem-
ber of the J. B. Speed Art Museum. Member of. the American Institute of
Management. Member of the Filson Club.

1916; Master Mason, September 18, 1916, Burnside Lodge No. 634, Free

his death was a member of Stigall Chapter No. 465, Burnside, Ken-
tucky, Worthy Patron, 1950.

OUR HOMES: Ex—officio Director of both Masonic Homes, October, 1947-
October, 1951.

Brother Lewis is survived by his son, Robert Thomas Lewis, Burn-
side; daughter, Mrs. Helen Frances Caldwell, Ft. Meyers, Florida; a sister,
Mrs. Stella Grissom, Burnside; seven grandchildren and eleven great
grandchildren.

On some fond breast the parting soul relies,
Some pious drops the closing eye requires;
E’en from the tomb the voice of Nature cries,
E’en in our ashes live their wonted fires.

As a tribute of love and respect for the memory of our departed
brother, it is ordered that this memorial be read in each lodge of this
Grand Jurisdiction at the next stated communication after its receipt and
that it be made a part of the records of the lodge.

The Petition of DAVID WILLIAM HULETT for Initiation,
the Petition of WILLIAM CLIFTON SMITH for Affiliation,
and the Petition of CLARENCE HERMAN STANFIELD for
Reinstatement were received and committees appointed.

The Petitions of E.C. FLORA and JOHN STANTON JACOBS
for Affiliation were received from the committees,
and the ballot spread. Result of the ballot E.C.
FLORA and JOHN STANTON JACOBS were elected to member-
ship in Lexington Lodge #1 F.&A.M.

8:07 P.M. Lodge called from Labor on the M.M. Degree
to Refreshment, preparatory to opening on the E.A.
Degree.

wishes go with him and his family.
Bro. Reed Harris announced that a Degree Team Practice
would be held at 3P.M., March 7, 1982.
Bro. Chester Care made a report on the M.T.A. meeting.
The Worshipful Master read the Financial Statement of
Lexington Lodge #1 F.&A.M. for the year ending December
31, 1981.

VISITORS The Worshipful Master recognized and welcomed a visitor
