CORRESPONDENCE: Letter from John Jacobs, Secretary of the MTA serving notice of the

Stockholders Meeting on January 10th with a copy of the proposed budget. PM Haggard commented
that it had been proposed that the house be rented and from the budget evidently no work had been
done toward that proposal.

OLD BUSINESS —- No old business

NEW BUSINESS — There was some discussion on the Bass Tournament. WM Stratton stated that if
we have it, then April 28 would be a key date. He also stated that one of the important points in the
success was to secure sponsors who's donations would carry Tournament expenses during start up
and provide financing for some of the prize money. No specific decisions were made.

 

 GOOD OF THE ORDER: WM reminded the craft that there would be a MM Reobligation
at the next meeting.

Suggestion was made that we not continue the Rabbit Fry and possibly schedule something else.

WM stated that we should get a new Bible and a working compass large enough to reach from right
to left side. Motion made by Brother Reynolds and seconded by Brother Bradt that a review of
prices be made to select an appropriate Bible for our alter and a large working compass. Motion
passed.

Brother Lewis stated that we needed to have a more active 3rd Degree Team.

It was announced that D.D.G.M. Lewis is suppose to be here Feburary 5th and we would like to have
work that night.

Brother Bradt offered a motion, which was seconded by Brother Lewis, that the Officer's Aprons be
cleaned. Motion passed.

Brother Harris offered a motion, which was seconded by Brother Lewis, that new locks be purchased
for food and equipment lockers, with 4 keys available to Master, Secretary and two Stewarts.
Motion passed.

VISTORS: There were no visitors present.
SICK and DISTRESS:

Brother Bobby Brown was remembered as having surgery scheduled again and that this surgery
could be much more serious than indications reflected by Brother Brown.

WORK: WM, assisted by Brother Reed Harris as Marshall, installed Brother Reynolds as
Treasurer.

CLOSING: Master recognized the P.M.’s in attendance. 8:48 PM Lodge closed in form, with peace
and harmony on the Master Mason Degree.

OLD/NEW BUSINESS:

OLD BUSINESS —- WM asked the Secretary to contact the UK. Children's Hospital and see if the
$100 donation made by our lodge could be redirected from the general fund to the Jared's Toy Cart
Fund.

SW reported that Crisman's Cleaners cleaned the officer's aprons at no charge.

NEW BUSINESS — Secretary reported that he received and deposited the MTA year-end
disbursement which was in the amount of $1,030.96

GOOD OF THE ORDER: WM reminded the officers that there would be an EA degree at our
next meeting and he encouraged the JW to hold a rehearsal before then.

Brother Miller from Waco Lodge reported that they would be holding a Valentine Party on
February 12th at 6:00 P.M. He also stated that activities such as this that were open to the general

public and done wonders for their lodge's recognition in the local community.

WM asked the Secretary to order a new gavel for the East, to look into replacing the Alter Bible and
obtain a working compass for ritual work.

VISTORS: There were (14) visitors present: Thirteen from Kentucky Lodges and one from
California.

SICK and DISTRESS:

Brother Bobby Brown is doing well.

Brother Roy May's son is recovering and do well.

MK: WM lead the craft in 3 MM Reobligation.

Brother David Coomer performed a practice Letter G Lecture.

Brother Ralph McNitt from San Jose, Calif. spoke briefly to commend the WM and JD on their work
and to highlight some of the differences between Kentucky and California in the opening, closing and

voting processes.

OPENING: 7:30 PM Lodge opened in form on the M. M. Degree with the above Officers and 17
others present. District Deputy Grand Master Rusty Lewis, District 25 making his official visit, was
received and invited to the East. Master welcomed everyone to lodge and announced that two
candidates would be receiving the EA Degree.

WORK: The Master asked if there were no objections he would like to deviate from the normal
order of business to confer the EA Degree on the two candidates. There being no objections at 7:40
PM lodge was called from Labor on the MM Degree to refreshment preparatory to opening on the
EA Degree. 7:45 PM Lodge was opened on the EA Degree and was immediately called “at case” so
that the various ritualists could assume their respective stations. 7:50 PM Lodge was called “to
labor” and Acting Master David Bradt proceeded to confer the lSt Section of the EA degree on
candidates Walter Trebolo III and Joseph Carl Best. 8:30 PM the Lodge was called “at ease”. 8:40
PM the Lodge resumed its work with WM Tom Stratton conferring the 2nd Section of the EA Degree.
WM Tom Stratton then introduced the ritualists to the newly obligated brothers and compliments on
the work were voiced by the Master and several of the body. The newly Obligated brothers were
then asked if they had any comments to make each mentioned that he enjoyed the experience and
was anxious to begin his work on the degree. 9:10 PM the Master Declared the Lodge closed on the
EA Degree.

9:13 PM the Lodge was called from Refreshment to Labor on the MM Degree.

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

Brother David Coomer mentioned that his dad's name was listed incorrectly on the web site.

Brothers John Jelley and Jim Lewis recounted their recent visit with Brother James Sharpe Sr. He
has lost a lot of weight due to his cancer treatments but was feeling better and he thanked the lodge
for their prayers and attention.

CLOSING: Master recognized the P.M.’s in attendance and called upon Brother Rusty Lewis,
District Deputy Grand Master, District 25. Brother Lewis brought greetings from Grand Lodge, and
talked about the upcoming changes in format for this year's District Meeting. He reminded everyone
of the District 25 Meeting on Monday, April 2, 2001 at the Lexington Consistory A.A.S.R., 553
Rosemont Garden, opening at 5:30 P.M. with refreshments and the tiled meeting to follow after the
meal. There will be a program for the ladies. He stressed that the Lodge of Excellency award had
been discontinued for this year and the Lodge attendance awards would be based on the attendance
of top five officers or sixteen members. Since the District Meeting falls on Lexington Lodge No. 1's
stated meeting night, the attendance of the Master and three others at the District Meeting can be
considered in lieu of our regualar meeting. We do not have to apply for permission to move our
charter for the evening. The speaker will talk on the subject of the Scottish Rite Charity effort.

This completed his report. District Deputy Grand Master’s official visit report is attached to these
minutes.

MINUTES: Minutes of February 5, 2001 were read and approved as read.

PETITIONS: Petition for Reinstatement — William Walter Cumby. Motion was made and seconded
to receive the petition and appoint an investigating committee. Motion passed.

COMMITTEES: Select Committee report on Masonic Education for President's Day- Brother
David Coomer reported on our Masonic Presidents, and in particular President McKinley. Brother
Lewis then read from our 1901 minutes a resolution of sympathy for Mrs. McKinley. Norm Karam
followed up with a report on the speculation that President Lincoln was a brother.

Select Committee report on Masonic Charities - WM proposed that the annual Bass Tournament be
replaced with an Easter Egg Hunt or Charity Auction and/or a Masonic Breakfast. A light
discussion ensued resulting in Brother Lewis being appointed to look into the prospect of joint
participation in the auction with the F.O.F. Brother Harris was also asked to consider ways in
which the auction idea could be moved forward while Brother Young was asked to look into the

had a position on whether or not President Lincoln was a Masonic brother.

Brother Gahafer thanked Lexington Lodge No. 1 for their support during several of Sirkle Lodge's
recent ritual presentations.

Brother David Coomer and Brother Harris shared the good news with the lodge of the recent births
of their daughters.

Brother Karam will be traveling to his home lodge, Lake Erie Lodge No. 662, to receive his 50 year
pin. Several of his friends from Lexington Lodge No. 1 will be going with him for the presentation.

Roy Mays' son is doing better.

Brother Brown is weak and recovering slowly from his last treatment.
Brother Roger Jones has just had a hernia operation and is doing well.

WORK: Brother Themann presented a "mock" Staircase Lecture. Everyone agreed that this was
excellent ritual work and praise was voiced by all.

WM asked the Secretary to follow up on an older moton to buy 3 dozrn new lodge aprons, 1 dozen
Past Master Aprons, 2 dozen Degree Team Aprons and a box of paper aprons.

WM reminded everyone that several lodge officers and members would be traveling to Proctor
Lodge on Friday night to put on ritual work.

There was a lengthy discussion from the lodge floor about the various protocols in Kentucky lodges
for recognizing MM at Masonic Funerals. It was decided that Lexington Lodge No. 1's method of
having MM stand up to be recognized was preferable to the craft.

Brother Gerard Deboer passed away March 3”.

Brother Bobby Brown is doing well.

Brother Dan Lail is under Hospice care.

OPENING: 7:30 PM Lodge opened in form on the M. M. Degree with the above Officers and 12
others present. Master welcomed everyone and announced that a brother would be demonstrating
proficiency in the EA Degree and receiving the FC Degree.

WORK: The Master made a motion to deviate from the normal order of business to begin the EA
Degree Proficiency. Motion was seconded and motion passed. 7:43 PM lodge was called from Labor
on the MM Degree to refreshment preparatory to opening on the EA Degree. 7:50 PM Lodge was
opened on the EA Degree. Brother Jim Lewis then proceeded to examine Joseph Carl Best on the
EA Degree. Following his presentation a motion was made and seconded that this brother be found
proficient on the EA Degree. Motion passed. 8:10 PM the lodge closed in form on the EA Degree.

8:25 PM lodge opened in form on the FC Degree and Acting Master Jim Lewis proceeded to confer
the 1St Section of the FC degree on Brother Joseph Carl Best. 8:55 PM the Lodge was called “at
ease” so that the lodge room could be prepared for the Staircase Lecture and at 9:03 PM the Lodge
resumed its work with Brother Bill Themann presenting the Staircase Lecture followed by Brother
David Coomer presenting the Letter G Lecture. Acting Master Jim Lewis then introduced the
ritualists to the newly passed brothers and compliments on the work were voiced by the Master and
several of the body. 9:25 PM the lodge was closed in form on the FC Degree.

9:30 PM the Lodge was called from Refreshment to Labor on the MM Degree.

MINUTES: Minutes of March 5, 2001 were read and approved as read.

PETITIONS: Petition for Affiliation by Dual Membership - Kenneth Wilder. All committeemen
reported favorable. Motion was made to dismiss the committee with thanks and have the ballot

spread. Motion was seconded and motion passed. Brother Kenneth Wilder was then elected to Dual
Membership by unanimous ballot.

Petition for Reinstatement — William Walter Cumby. All committeemen reported favorable. Motion
was made to dismiss the committee with thanks and have the ballot spread. Motion was seconded
and motion passed. Brother William Walter Cumby was then elected for reinstatement by
unanimous ballot.

The Master then proceeded to confer the last sad Rites, upon Brother Daniel Howard Lail, who was
made a Mason on November 11, 1954 and departed this life on March 21, 2001.
