ABBEY OF GETHSEMANI

TRAPPI ST, KENTUCKY

June 21, 1961

Dear Victor:

Thanks for your good note: the 15th of July will be fine
I wondered if you had gone on a trip somewhere, or if my
letter had got lost.x§3ix There is just one slight possible
hitch. A Jesuit from Europe is supposed to come down here
some weekend in July. He is a very fine scholar and no doubt
he would enjoy joining us if he were here. Or perhaps it would
be better to change the date if he happens to be here that
weekend, In: as I might not have any other time in which
to talk with him. I don't think this is likely though.
Provisionally I will assume that even if hecomes we could all
get together on the 15th anyway.

I do not have any book on Nicholas of Cusa or about his
work. Carolyn never brought or sent any. Perhaps though some-
thing was sent and got lost in the office here before being
given to me. I can inquire. Is Carolyn sure she gave it to
me, or any such books? I have only the Shirer on the Nazis
from the Library at Present.

It is good that you like the poem. I am not sure I
understand what you intend to do about the title page.

We can talk of that when you come, and I will understand.

I do think you are right not to take on too many prohects
but I am glad you have someone who can work with you on the
Fiedler, which is more than just a project for you. The same
can be said of the Classic Art. we have to distinguish
"projects" from things that are as essential to us as brea-
thing. Breathing can never be a project.

All the best, and every blessing,
in Christ
