MRAP UPDATE
The Management Review and Analysis Program (MRAP) study team is our-
rently investigating and compiling a record of: histories of the Uni-
versity and the Libraries; current library goals and objectives; and
areas which should be explored in the MRAP study. The study team will
mobilize task forces to study the various areas of library operations~
e.g., budgeting, staff development, etc.; the task forces will make
reports, and the study team, aided by the rest of the Library Staff,
will examine these reports and make recommendations.
This self study needs the cooperation and assistance of each staff
member. Without critical input, the MRAP study will be meaningless.
Thus, the following means of communication will be available to all
staff members.
l. Open meetings
These meetings will be held when each task force report is com-
pleted, after every staff member has received a copy of the task
force report. Everyone will be allowed a few days to evaluate the
report, and then will have the opportunity to make comments, sug-
gestions and recommendations about the report.
The date of the first open meeting will be announced soon. Before
this meeting, all staff members will receive a report on what
areas the department heads have suggested for in-depth study by
the task forces. Other staff members — classified, personnel, li-
brary technicians and librarians — who have suggestions on further
areas which should be explored can come to this open meeting to
make their suggestions.

 .. 2 -
Additional open meetings will be called when special problems
arise during MRAP, or as the study team decides they are needed.
2. Suggestion box
An MRAP suggestion box will be placed in the staff lounge on the
3rd floor of MIK North for input from all staff members. These
suggestions may be of any length, and may be either anonymous or
signed. Letters covering various subject areas will be directed
to the appropriate task force(s).
3. Open access to study team
One or more persons may schedule an interview with the MRAP study
team at any time, by contacting any team member.
4. Access to individual study team members ·
Any library staff member may approach a person on the MRAP study
team to offer requests, complaints, suggestions or recommendations.
Study team members and their locations and telephone numbers are:
Ellen Baxter Chemistry/Physics 258-5954 _
John Bryant Director's Office 257-3801
Jennifer Coffman Reference 257-3658
Adelle Dailey Music 258-2800

Jean Graef Circulation 257-3837
Steve Langston 302A Admin. Bldg. 257-2881
Bill Marshall Special Collections 258-8611
Informal "rap sessions" will be scheduled as the MRAP study pro-
grasses, and will be advertised in the "Green Bean." If other
avenues of communication are desired, or if any of these methods
prove unsatisfactory, please use one of the above methods to offer
suggestions.
