Dear Carolyn:

.I‘ r

First of all, many thanks for the remorial book 10? Victor. it is
as beautiful as anything you have ever done and I shall treasure it
along with the others.

There are several things I have been meaning to write about. First
of these is that there is a misprint in the Selected Poems version of
the “esponsory which John Jacob Niles has set to music and which is to
be sung in a few days at Transylvania. “he misprint is in line 24
(right at the bottom of the page in the new edition). The line says
wrongly "blooming" snnhex snheres. The word should be booming.(lt might
have ;iven him a different idea!) As I don't have his address, may
I entrust you with the mission of letting him know about it? Hope it is
not too late. also, J. said that any business with the oublisher should
go through flew Directions (about rights etc). If his music oublisher new
would contact J. in due time, that would be the way to do it.

Last Nonday, 20th, I was in 4eXineton and called you a couple of
times both at the library and at home, but failed to get you. is I
was two and a half hours in a dentist's chair at the medical center
and did not know in advance when I would return here, I could not plan
on anything ahead of time. But _ will be back next Wednesday morning,
and hope to get to the library to do a little work. I'll call you or
look you up then. I have a dentist's acpointment at one, which doesn't
leave time for lunch etc but at least it would be good to see you a mo—
ment. Later too I hope to see whoever it is in charge of the collection
there, when we have worked out the ”rules for use” that are being
devised now. The Trust agreement is all signed and it seems workable.

In De ember I am going to have a seminar affair with some nuns here
and then other things will keep me tied up until Christmas. I hone that
we can look forward to something later on, in January some time, if it
is not too cold. As to Denise Aevertov: Wendell Berry hopes to bring her
over for a brief visit when she is here. I have met him and like his
work. I hone in January or so we can olan a Jicnic with Bob, Jonathan,
anyone you like. Keep well. Ky best wishes always,
