COVID 19 ISOLATION

IAM LUCKY:

To live in a State that hasn't been badly hit by the virus
To live in a rural area that has more wide-open spaces which makes social distancing easier

To live in a small neighborhood that is beautiful and sparsely populated so that I can walk as much as I like

while still keeping my distance
To have a park nearby that has few visitors and miles oftrails, and that these trails are still open

To live in a State with a Governor that does not instill fear in the residents, but rather deals with this crisis in

a calm, yet serious manner

To be stuck at home with someone I love

That my husband is able to continue working from home

That I retired before all of this happened

That my children are isolated with people they love

That my daughter and her husband are making the best oftheir new found time together
That my son and his family made it out of Portland before all ofthis happened

That my son and his family are isolated with extended family which allows them to continue to work and

play in an almost normal atmosphere

That my daughter and son-in-law were eligible for unemployment once their restaurantjobs were

terminated

That I can see my children over the internet through Skype, FaceTime and the like

That my Mom is healthy

That my Mom can still use FaceTime

That my Mom is active, even in her small apartment, and that she is not confined to a chair or bed
That she has a mission, however odd we might find that mission to be
That the staff at the Assisted Living where she lives are trying their best to keep everyone safe

That the same staff seem to be happy where they work, helping them to pass along their positivity to the

people who live there

That my siblings now have more time to talk on the phone and visit long distance
That phone visits feel almost as good as being with them

That my siblings who live in large metropolitan areas are still safe

That they are isolated with people they love

That they have things to keep them busy

That this spring seems to be more beautiful than ever, making being isolated a lot more bearable
