BRICK WORK.

 

All the walls now standing and in good condition

 

ifare to remain except where they must be changed to be in
Esconformity with the drawingspwhere the walls are fracture
féed or other wise injured by the fire they are to be re-
énwved and rebuilt. In rebuilding the walls and_in all
igrepairing the old brick is to be used as far as suitable
:Efor the purpose,but care must be taken to use nothing but
ffgood sound brick. And no brick with burned smoked or

w

istained surface must be‘used in facing either interior
£or exterior of walls. All mortar used in repairing or
frebuilding of walls to be cement mortar composed of one

gpart of the best quality of Louisville cement and two

gparts lime. None but the best quality of freshly burned

fiand well slacked lime to be used. All old front brick

firemoved to be taken down carefully so as to be reused.
{All exterior facings of walls where the work is repaired
for rebuilt to be.made to correspond with the old work
has nearly as possible. The entablature of the house is
fto be about a foot higher than before and the brick
fpilasters are to be raised to the requiredheight at base

fiof capital. The parapet walls at East and west sides

{are to be taken down to the level of cornice.

All the chimney breasts are to be taken down from
Vthe foundation and rebuilt of sizes given on drawings.

All’the flues are to be entirelyrebuilt and lined with

Care must be taken in taking down the chimneys not to
disturb the exterior portion of the walls,and to leave
projections all the way up to bond in the new work. All
the chimneys,chimney breasts and Ilues to be built in

the very best manner possible using old brick as far as
{practicable. Arches are to be turned over all fire place
The collars or fire places are to be thoroughly plastered
inside and well brought into flue linings four feet below
ceilings. Turn halt brick trimmer arches far all hearths
Cut away places in walls for the reception of all cut
stone sills and caps. Where new'Jambs are to be-made
the adjoining bricks must be removed and the jambs rebuil
true and plumb.
gAll the arches of side windows are to be rmnoved and cuts

LASTERING.

The entire attic including rear Wing,the ceiling of the
cellar,and the walls and ceigings or the servants hall to
be plastered with one heavy coat brown mortar well trowel-

ed and smooth. The walls and ceilings of servants hall

 

to have an additional skim coat.

All the walls,ceilings and softits of stairs throughout

3 the first and second stories including landing in attic to
f be plastered with three coat work for lath work and two coa'
% work for brick walls;each coat to be well troweled and

T smooth and Well seasoned before the next coat is put on.

! The entire work to be finished with heavy troweled coat of
lime and clean white sand mortar.

All the work is to be level even and plumb and full to
