Results of the MRAP general staff _ G R E E N _
survey have been received and are· _
available in John Bryant's office. B E A N
The data were summarized in two
ways: first, the number of re- UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY LIBRARIES
sponses in each category for each NEWSLETTER 12/20/74
question was tabulated. For ex- ·—···—··r·*·‘*“‘—‘"‘*""**‘““*“‘”W
ample, 80.2% of the persons surveyed thought that inflation is a very
important issue for the library. Another 16.8% thought it was impor-
tant, while only 3.3% thought it was less important. No one checked
responses 4 and 5 on this question ("not important at all" and "no ·
response"). Second, a cross-tabulation for each question was produced
showing the number of responses in each category by job classifaction.
For example, it is possible to determine how the Librarian I's and
II's responded to the statement, "Length of service should be an eval-
uation factor."
The survey indicated that the staff feels strongly about the impor-
tance of good communication at all levels, the effects of inflation,
improvements which should be made in public services and concern with
user satisfaction, relationships between professional and support
staff, and filling positions of leadership with capable, enthusiastic
people. Survey questions about these topics received from 70% - 80%
of the responses in the "Very important/Strongly agree" category.
The survey will be used as a data bank for the MRA? study team and
especially for the individual task forces to be organized early
next semester. The study team would like to thank the staff for their
excellent response to this part of the self-study.
