The Bo rd of the C rden Club of Lexington
met Friday March 2Q, 1972 at the home of
Mas. Hagan, President, with in members present.

The minutes of the last Board meeting
nd the last regular meeting were read and

Mrs. Hagan announced thrt it was our
turn to entertain the Flue Grass District of
Federated Garden Clubs. It will be a one day
meeting of approximately 1W0 neople and perhaps
could be held at the Women's Club. Mrs. Turner
suggested that we have our regular meeting in
conjunction with this one.

Mrs. Hagan said that our Garden Club of
America Zone Chairman has asked if we would
have either the 1975 or 1976 zone meeting.
It was suggested that we ask for a spring

meeting, preferably in May.

A motion was made by Murry Barrow that
the committee co-chairman be allowed to attend
Beard Meetings in the event the Chairman
cannot come. Motion was ”econded by Charlotte
Schubert and passed.

A discussion was held regarding a raise
in dues. Mrs. Combs made a motion that the
dues be raised by $5.00 in eech category.
Mrs. Schubert seconded the motion and it was

passed.

Sallie Johnston was awarded 2 purples,
3 gold and one blue ribbons for beautiful
plants disrlayed at her home at the last
meeting.

The Board decided that the rule was still
in effect concerning the registration fee for

 

 convention and that the $80 fee would be paid
this year and in the future.

Mrs. Van l—Ieter suggested that we write a lette‘.
to the VJa ter Resources Council regarding the
work oi‘ the Corps of Engineers, rointing out
that the straightning of rivers caused flooding
and was hard on our ecology in many hays. She
also read a letter rem Mrs. Waller of Garden
Club of America which had been written to
Senator Jackson supnortjnr Senate Pill #3000.
This bill would resul te surface mining of COfil,
such as requiring n:?riance bonds to be posted.
