Remarks
For your information we include in this report other than fire losses that
were collected from insurance companies.
Milwaukee Works had an explosion in scrap yard when ladle of molten metal
was poured on frozen ground with a damage of $lO,§OU.50.
Hamilton Works had explosions in the Chemical Laboratory and Forge Shop with
a damage of SlU,}95.50.
Springfield, Fort Wayne, and West Pullman had windstorm damage to the total
extent of $Y§,l2}.QU.
Canton Works had water damaee that totaled $§Ul.52.
This report shows an alarming increase in fire losses in our manufacturing
plants, However, of these losses, you.will note, that Rock Falls and West
Pullman had losses that amounted to $YS,5lU.lO or 8}% of the total losses for
the year and both occurred in unsprinklered buildings.
These two serious fires again emphasize the importance of providing sprinkler ·
protection where needed,
