Dear Mr. Galbreath:
l am in receipt of your letter of
November léth, and wish to state that the lO dozen harvester
Club golf balls for lQ57 were sent to you with the expectation
that you would have some demands in that territory. In the
event that you do not secure any orders if you will inform
me about August lst, as to how many you have on hand I will
make disposition and ship them to some other branch.
As explained in my letter it was necessary
to get these balls distributed around the territory as a matter
of reducing our shipping expenses.
We hope that this explanation will meet
with your approval and we wish to express our appreciation for
the cooperation that you are giving in this program.

Dear Mr. Galbreath:
Enclosed are blue prints and file relative to
the high costs for the month of September, viz. slate,
tracks, timber expense.
In future I would suggest that any month you have
an excessive cost over the previous month on any particular
item or items, it would be well to explain it in this same
manner so we will have the information prouptly along with
the arrival of the cost sheet.
I do know that you are following your costs very
carefully, and the subject discussed at your foremen’s meet—
ing with reference to handling supplies, etc. in connection
with the cost of mining coal was most interesting.

Mr. C. F. Biggert, President

Chicago, Illinois
Dear Mr. Biggert:
Confirming our telephone conversation of this after-
noon, Mr. A. D. Carlton, who is the head of our Coal Sales Department,
W. M. White, our Coal Inspector, and J. G. Butler, Assistant Coal
Sales Manager, have planned to be in Benham probably next Monday
afternoon, November l6th. They will plan to stay overnight and be
there on Tuesday, the l7th.
As I told you, there will be no publicity given to this
‘ and therefore no stir, so to speak, will be made in the trade that we
are looking at your coal properties with an idea of the possible market-
ing of the over—size grade.
We appreciate very much your invitation to have them
stay at Chicago House at Denham, and we feel sure that this visit and
inspection of the coal may lead to further relations of mutual advantage.
Again thanking you for your cooperation,
Very truly yours,
THE CLEVELAND CLIFFS IRON CO.
W. M. GREEN
P.S.— In case Mr. Carlton's plans should be changed in any way, he
will wire or call Mr. R. E. Galbreath, your Superintendent at Benham.
