Dear Sir:
Referring to your letter of April l4th, I
note what you have to say in regard to the base plates
and the closing up of your grading work, I find ship-
ment of the plates for No, 2 bridge is being made today
and no doubt you will receive it by april 23rd. Even
if you do not,yyou will probably find plenty of work
for the men tolgo in getting the beams out nearer to
the bridge or you could even have them put on the ends
of the abutmentsgso that they can be set in place as soon
as the plates arrive, ‘
I am alsdiattaching copy of letter to the Pur-
chasing Department in reference to the rail, which I hope
will result in prompt delivery.
I have not heard·from you whether or not you have
received the bridge bolts and washers and tie plates. If
these have not been receiyed, please advise me promptly
and I will get after them, or if there is any other material
which you need and has nét yet arrived, kindly let me know
and I will do what I canito get it down there,

‘ I am advised by the Wisconsin Steel Company .
at Benham that they expect to be finished with their
grading work on the new tracks for the #2 mine about v
April 23rd eo that a number of laborers will be re-
lieved from that kind of work. If they receive the
bed plates for bridge #2 at that time, they will have ‘
something to work the men on, These plates were ordered
from the Union Foundry Works, purchase order 82811, and
1 they advise me that at least a portion of the plates ie
going forward today. I am writing you thinking it might
be well to have the Traffic Department get behind this
shipment to see that it goes through promptly. 1
1 I am also attaching copy of my letter of even
date to the Purchasing Department in regard to Benham 1
requisition #678, purchase order 81445 covering 135 G.T, ·
of rail together with angle bars, track bolts and spikes.
I understand this was ordered March llth, ehipment to be
made not later than two weeks, but it appears the material
has not yet been received at Bonham. It 1s quite import-
ant that this material be delivered at Benham in the$very _
near future, in order not to delay the work. ‘ ‘

Referring to your letters of April 26th,
29th and 30th, from the latter I understand that
you have received the base plates and the rail
which awere short and trust that they have not
undul delayed your work.
As to the release of the equipment, I
would be unable to say anything about that, but
unless you have further use for it, it would seem
to me that it should be gotten rid of as quickly
as possible in order to stop the rental expense.
In one of your reports you state some-
thing about bridge ties. My understanding is that
you are going to furnish them locally. If this is
not correct and you wish anything done along this
_ line, please let me know at once,
