ABBEY OF GETHSEMANI

TRAPPI ST, KENTUCKY

March 28m 1961

lJear Carolyn:

I am glad that the novitiate stamp on the Graves book does not matter.
It went back to you the other day and you have it by now. I did not have time to
finish it, but I especially enjOyed the first story, I thought it was hilariously funny.
Some of his lectures seemed to me to be a little empty and trite.

The book you sent reaently is certainly instructive to say the least.

It is a hair raiser, and the truths it points out are certainly very salutary. we have
an awful lot to learn. The thirties are d ad and gone, and so is the liberalism of that
day. ( I liked the old man's toast of "arms for Spain").

I have thought of another possibility for a printing project for Victor.
If you have any Latin texts of Nicholas of Cusa in the library, or know where they could be
unearthed, it might be a good idea to translate a short one. I would be very interested
in trying it. Do you have anything by or about him there in any other language?

What do we owe David Rowland for lumber to date? Perhaps it would be helpful
to him if we paid our debt in this regard about Llaster. Could you please find out from
hhn and let us know? Also I didn't fin jot down his address so I have lost it.

And when are you thinking of coming over again? I hope we will soon be able to
count on some nice spring weather.
Meanwhile I will look forward to an reaction to the suggestion on N. of Cusa or
Coomaraswamy. I haven't heard definitively from Mrs 0. about this, and nothing from Victor,
if he wrote it did not reach me.

Best Jester wishes, and God bless you both,

Very cordially in Christ

I
