Board of Trustees, at its meeting of May 2, 1967, had established a ' Robert F
Faculty Memorial Scholarship for the children of deceased full—time r C. M. Co
faculty members; that it will provide tuition and fees for all under— '

President Oswald was warmly welcomed to the first meeting of the

University Senate this year.

He commented briefly on the status of three

amendments to the Governing Regulations which were forwarded to the President

and the Board of Trustees following the April 10, 1967 meeting of the

University Senate.

The first of these related to the membership on the Board of Trustees
of two non—voting members of the faculty who are elected for three—year
terms. The amendment provided that in the event of a vacancy by reason
of an administrative appointment, the Senate Council appoint that eligible
faculty member who at the last election received the largest vote without
being elected; and that if the replaced member becomes eligible to serve
before the expiration of his term, he shall resume his seat. The President
explained that this was not consonant with the Statutes of the State of
Kentucky which require that to fill any vacancy on the Board of Trustees
the same election procedures must be followed as in the case of the original
appointment. Hence, on advice of the Senate Council, this was not presented

to the Board of Trustees.
