Civil War) in Barren County, Ky. She married

wife of Robert F. Wood, Barren County, Ky. Remarks
about the use of a tub to catch rain water for washing
[clothes]. Living costs in Texas are high, and living

Fishback, Vernon, Texas, to Bob [Wood, Barren County,
Ky. presumably]. Bob Wood was the Barren County, Ky.
half brother of Jane Fishback, i.e., technically, the
uncle of the letter writer. Harry wishes that he
"never had heard of Texas," and wishes he were back in
Kentucky where he could see someone familiar when he
looked out the door. Living costs are higher in
Vernon, Texas than in Kentucky. Mentions that his family
has planted 50 acres of oats.
