The Blue Room is the name given to the new hospitality center
by Bernie A. Shively. athletic director at the University. The room
It located in the west side of Memorial Coliseum across the hall
from the ticket division.
The new Athletic Department .showpiece will provide a homey
atmosphere in which to entertain guests. "We needed a place to
entertain visitors in a
atmosphere." said Ken Kuhn,
University sports publicity director. He suggested the Blue Room
will provide a comfortable place in which members of the department
staff can talk over plans with the prospective athletes.
The Blue Room will be equipped with all the elements to make
it both a showpiece and a congenial reception room. In front of the
:

non-offi-

door is a blue tile welcome mat displaying a white "K" emblem.
Inside, the floor of the reception room is covered with a thick blue
carpet; the furniture is upholstered in blue leather, and the walls are
done in walnut paneling. On one side of the room is a trophy case
in which major University triumphs will be displayed, and on the
other side of the room is a snack bar from which sandwiches, soft
drinks, and coffee will be served during conferences. Pictures of
will be used to decorate the walls and the
University
acoustical ceiling will provide a quiet meeting place.
Kuhn explained that having such an entertainment room is not
a unique idea and many other universities have such rooms in which
to entertain guests.
The Blue Room has been converted from the old varsity locker
room and part of a men's rest room. It will replace the squad meeting
hall as a place where coaches interview prospective players. Benne
Shively. the head coaches, and the Lexington Quarterback Club are
jointly deciding what should be displayed in the Blue Room.

on them.
There is just one trouble I find
with tlifs. group- - it is much too conservative. Mr. Hunt' Spencer, who
receives a meager $10,000 a year (ot
his tireless efforts as exccntivi vice
president ol the organization, said
that. No effort will be made to clothe
sheep tnd other field animals; that
would he ridiculous he sas! Doesn't
he realize that young ami impressionable eyes enter rural areas every now
and then also?
Vt II,
have exposed this horri-fvinproblem, and now it is up to
you, the students and faculty ol UK
leav off. I wish
to carry on where

The album is not all humor,
the Prep- - exhibit their line style
in favorites such as "Lazy River'
with a ba.-.- - solo, and a touch of
reminiscing to "Goodnight Sweetheart." And of course you all
know the Prep- - will be appearing
in concert at Memorial Hall tonight. As a preview of this "sure
