Boar Mr Ross,

May I be allowed to address you on a purely personal
mattor? I have a private quarrel with your dramatic critic; Mr
Jamss Agate — he knowo nothing about this, and if he did, I don't
sufipose it would-brook his heart. In spite of his position as a drama-
tic critic of distinction, I want, as it were, to divorce him from

any work of mine, if you take my meaning. On the other hand, I want

the publicity of a groat Journal such as yoursa may I therefore be

allowed to invite the criticimm of some other gentleman connooted
with your paper on any first night on which I may be appearing?
This may all seem very obsurd and childish to you, but
it 15 the fault of my upbringing.
