section false xt7qjq0stw34_4279 xt7qjq0stw34 Dec.l§ , 1950. Fear Mr.Hoyland, Miss Rogéers has sent me your letter of enquiry concerning oir remote ancesto"s . I cannot answer it better than by sending you a copy of a booklet Which I printed privately nearly two years ago . I am afraid I cannot tell you much more for I put nearly all my goods in the shop-window .‘ I did however come across the name of Darfield pretty often in the course of my research , it is not far from Peniston ; but I did not trace any members of the family there . Your surname like my own must be derived from a place name . There is more than one Hoyland within the triangaé formed by Sheffield, Barnsley and Peniston where the family makes its first appear- ance . There must have been a colony of Wordsworths at Edwin- stowe in Sherwood Forest . Do yox know anything of them ? They must have been established about,or even beforeilVOO . It is not so far in distance from Peniston as one is apt to think.. If the little book interests you I hope you Will accept it . Yours sincerely, ’mfi
