ception held in the Special Collections Department on May 21st,
for six retiring library staff members. The retirees: Hunter
Adams, Jacqueline Bull, Carolyn Hammer, Kate Irvine, Lucille

members, faculty members, friends and relatives, some of whom

in Kentucky. Among the guests were Dr. Stuart Forth, former
director of M.I. King Libraries, now living in Pennsylvania,
and Mrs. Forth, Dr. Cochran, Vice President for Academic Affairs,
musician and composer John Jacob Niles, and Mrs. Niles, and
many faculty members from various disciplines.
In honor of the retirees, the Staff Organization presented the

» translation of Homer‘s Iliad and Odyssey, illustrated by Flaxman.
A special book plate, printed By Sallie Ruff of the King Library
Press lists the names of the six retirees honored. The set _
will be housed in Special Collections.
Guests were treated to music by Jim Shaeffer, who performed
several contemporary and classical works for the harp, and a
trio consisting of Adelle Dailey, Jean Graef, and Charles
Timberlake, who performed works for the recorder. Souvenir
book marks, specially designed by Carolyn Hammer and hand-
colored by Evelyn Elder and Mildred Stanley, were provided.
Flowers for the buffet table were arranged by Evelyn Evans and
Dean Trivette. Other decorative arrangements were provided by
Virgil Henderson of the maintenance staff and Dr. Holman
Hamilton, retired history professor.
The Library Staff Organization wishes to extend special thanks
to Rhoda Channing, Jean Robinson, and all the members of the

Trudi Bellardo addresses ASIS meeting:
Trudi Bellardo (Data Services) and Dr. Katherine Cveljo (College
’ of Library Science) delivered a paper entitled "On-line Retro-
spective Searching as a Method in Teaching Information Sources,
Services, and Research in Business and Management" at the Sth
Mid-Year Meeting of the American Society for Information
Science. "Information Interaction" was the theme of the 20-22
May meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. Some technical sessions
that proved interesting were "Use of Data Bases in Combination,"
"Interface and Information Transfer," and "Sociocultural Aspects
of Information Interaction." A visit to the Grand Ole Opry
provided a refreshing change of pace and a different sort of
"information interaction."
Travellers:
Ellen Baxter, Mary Evelyn Minter, Rhoda Channing, and Jessie
Adams are going to Denver for the national conference of the
Special Libraries Association 6-10 June. Trudi Bellardo will
