Q ( L Two years ago, the Government Publications Department became a
l repository for the U.S. Administration on Aging's (AoA) SCAN microfiche
j collection. The collection contains research documents and articles in

l that as of December 1981, SCAN documents will go into the National
I Technical Information Services (NTIS) Database, hardcopy and microfiche
l will be available from NTIS, and the database may be accessed through

ill . LSO ELECTIONS
*4 The LSO is conducting its annual elections for officers. Soon you
l. will be receiving a ballot. Please return this ballot to Barbara Galik _
n in the Reference Department by December 9th.
j CHRISTMAS BAZAAR .
i The LSO will sponsor a Christmas Bazaar on Thursday, December 3,
f from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the King North Staff Lounge. Items available
i for sale may include baked goods, handcrafts, Christmas decorations,
i plants, etc. LSO needs your help. In order for this sale to succeed we
f will need items to sell. Bring your contributions to the Music Library
j on Wednesday, December 2nd or to the Staff Lounge on Thursday, December
3rd between 8 and 9 a.m. Make your plans now to participate in the
2 sale. Who knows, you may find that special Christmas gift you have been
i looking for.
e LSO COLLECTION BOXES
S Once again LSO will be taking up a collection for patients in the
I University Hospital. The Library's generosity has brightened the
I A holiday season in the past for those who must spend this time in the
g ~ hospital. The boxes will be distributed around December 1 and will be
f collected the week before Christmas. Please give what you can.
. LSO CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON .
l This year’s lunch has been scheduled for Friday, December 18, 1981,
at 11:30 a.m. in the Paperback Room. Sign-up sheets will be circulated
; via departments. The LSO Committee is steeped in plans to make this a
} most enjoyable affair. Suggestions for decoration and other
j fun—trappings are welcome; please direct them to Lynn Shrewsbury.
I THOUGHTS ON LSO DUES
QQ, Some members have asked that LSO dues be raised from the current $3
{ figure so that fewer fund raisers will be necessary. LSO's expenses
= include get well cards for staff members in the hospital, cards in the
· event of a death of a family member, a Christmas gift for the Director,
° and food plus supplies for the various social functions for LSO
(retirement dinners, picnic, receptions, christmas luncheon, etc.). D
' Please start thinking about this question as a decision may need to be f
made in this next year.
CONDOLENCES
’ To Michele Parks in the Director's Office on the death of her
father and her uncle.
