SISTERHOOD GALA PUR M PLRTY

The time is getting closer for our Purim Dance to be held at Boiling Springs Coun—
try Club on Saturday, March h. Casting is complete and rehearsals are in progress
for that masterpiece of entertainment, "South Prolific", the crowning achievement
from the pen of that most talented couple, the Irving Gails. Thru its side—split-
tings pages we learn a lot about the Battle of Lexington, the men'nmeriean currency
and just incidentally, life in the South (prolific). The menu is set for the mid-
night supper which is included in the price of your tickets.

Our goal is a high one but it is not out of reach and the uses to which the money
will be put are worthy and important ones. The first $500 collected will go to
fill Sisterhood‘s yearly pledge to the Sunday School; after that obligation is
covered we hope to fill our 1951 Convention fund, expenses for which will be kept
to a minimumD Any and all money over these two projects-will be given to the Sis-
terhood for use in its other philanthropic endeavors.

REMEMBER OUR THREE—FOLD PURPOSE!

1. The Sunday School:

2. The Convention Fund!

3. A wonderful time for everyone!

 THE INADEQUATE RABBI
(Adapted from the Bulletin of Temple
Beth-El in Flint, L‘iicho)

A rabbi could spend twelve hours a day,
seven days a week, calling on strangers.“
in the community and the unaffiliated.
OR, he could spend those hours, calling
on his members, comforting the sick,
rousing the inactive, pacifying those
who indulge in petty grievances. OR,
he might spend his waking hours in or—

ganization work with the Religious School

or youth group and other organizations
connected with the Temple and Jewish
community. OR, he might spend his time
representing the Jew to the community

at large and participating in civic life.
OR, he might Spend twelve hours a day

in his study enriching his knowledge of
Judaism with profit to himself and to

his congregation.

So, a rabbi — any rabbi - must remain
forever inadequate. He can attempt to
cover all five fields of endeavor, in
part, devoting about twenty percent of
his time to each, leaving each job 80p
undone. Hence, the term "Inadequate".

Do not pity the Rabbi. He is having the
best time of anyone on earth, doing Work
he loves. He spends six nights ( some—
times even seven) a week away from home ‘
by choice. Inadequate, desperately busy,
the rabbi thinks his job is the best on
earth! Pray for him and bear with hims
he is the only member of the Congrega-
tion who has no Rabbil
