( the faculty at their annual meeting last Friday.)
General
l. Continue to strive toward excellence in the library
facilities and services and within 5 years reach at ‘
least the average of the median figures for UK‘s
benchmark institutions (Illinois, Indiana, Missouri,
North Carolina State, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee,
Virginia, VPI, West Virginia) in the following
categories:
‘ Volumes in Library
Serials in Library
Professional Staff
Non—Professional Staff
I ° Total Staff (Including Student Assistants)
Materials Expenditures
Beginning Professional Salary
Median Professional Salary
2. Review MRAP Implementation Report. I
3. Seek increased grant and external funding support.
4. Review activities and functions in library with a
view toward elimination of unnecessary or low
priority ones.
5. Special programs for staff primary readers.

IMMR Library Will Be Open To The Public: l
It was announced Friday at the annual library faculty
meeting that the Institute for Mining and Minerals Research
Library located on Iron Works Pike would not be open to the
public. This policy has been revised. Entry into the
library will be permitted, but entry into any other part
of the laboratory without an escort remains restricted
due to safety and security regulations. The procedure
for gaining access to the library is as follows: the
visitor must register at the receptionist's desk and
recieve a building pass: a library staff member will w
then be called to escort the visitor to the library.
Upon leaving the library, the visitor must notify the ` ·
library staff and be escorted back to the lobby to sign ·
out of the building. If there are any questions regarding
this policy, please contact Theresa Wiley at 252-5535,
ext. 283.
Special Collections Open Additional Hours:
Beginning ll September, Special Collections will be open ( A
on Sunday afternoons from 2 to 5. V

V last week's Bean for 3:00 PM on September 9th has been
Q changed to 8:15 PM on the 9th. The meeting place
1 remains the same, Room 2 of the Fine Arts Building;
