We have your esteemed favor of the 27th inst., and
beg to state that we Iuanu;E`:~cture a full line of exhaust heaters
and purifiers; the Stilwell imyroved. We are sending you under .
cover our catalogue.
we wish Particularly to refer you to pages 10 and ll
of this catalogue for description of operation. This is the best
and most efficient heater and purifier built by this Gongoany, and
the high rate of efficiency is due to the fact that we obtain on
account of the manner of construction multi or counter current
between the steam and the water. It is also due to the very large
precipitating area as each heater of the improved type is provided
with nine pans each the entire area of the heater with the exception
of the area of the port which communicates from one pan to the
other. You will also note that the steam is divided into two
parts; one passing into the lower part of the series of shelves or
pans, and the other passing into the upper part of the heater, thus
THE PLATT IRON WORKS CO.

coming in direct contact with the water.
That part of the steam entering the lower part travels
upward counter—current to the water, Thus a very large portion
of the steam is condensed and the lower pans are kept at a higher
temperature, Besides these shelves, the filter in the lower part
is so arranged that the filter medium can be flushed by openina
the blow off cock at the bottom, ‘ ,
* You will note that this is an upward filter and that
on account of the water beina naintained at a higher level than
the to; of the filter medium, when openinr the blow off the water
reverses its direction and consequently flushes out impurities
from the filter.
Please refer also to cut on page 3O of the catalogue,
