Announcement

 

Our aim in giving this our forty-third annual fair is the
same as in former years, to give our patrons the best possible
variety of amusement for their money and to make it a most
enjoyable event. In our endeavors to do so we are given in—
valuable aid by our numerous white friends, who do every-
thing in their power to contribute to our success. We thank
them with our whole hearts, and will do all in our power to
show them that their many favors are highly appreciated.

As usual, our premium lists are liberal and will attract
the best there is in the Blue Grass and out in competition for
the numerous prizes. Floral Hall will this year surpass in
every way all previous records in all their many departments.
The prizes are more valuable this year than on former occa—
sions, and the rivalry for them will doubtless be unusually
keen. J

Our racing program, in all the divisions—running, trot-
ting and pacing—will be the best in the history of the asso-
ciation, and some high class racing will surely be witnessed.

Owing to the great number of high class Amusement
Companies now traveling, the Association has been able to
secure one that is the equal of any now on the road, and one
that contains features that will be of interest to both old and
young. There will be nothing permitted on the grounds that
will be the least offensive or detrimental in any way. Spindle
wheels, bird cages, and, in fact, all gambling devices will be
strictly under the ban and not allowed to operate on any
part of the grounds. The free features this year will be the
best yet seen at one of these fairs, and is sure to prove a de—
cided hit with all who are so fortunate as to Witness them.

Hamilton’s Military Band of thirty pieces, under the
direction of Professor James Wilson, admittedly one of the
best bandmasters in the country, will be heard in daily con-

Rules and Regulations

1. All badges must be worn conspicuously, and any one
found without a badge will be put off the grounds.

2. Tickets must be procured, as no money will be received
at the gates.

8. Books for entry of stock will be open ten days before
the Fair begins, and exhibitors should make their entry, if
possible, before the Fair commences.

4. The Fair will open each morning at 9 o’clock, by which
hour all entries should be made.

5. All stock should be entered in the name of the owner
or his agent.

6. Exhibitors will please be careful that they enter their
stock or articles in proper classes.

7. No person who is an exhibitor may act as judge in the
ring in which he or she exhibits.

8. Judges must not confer with each other. When each
judge has formed his or her opinion, they shall report the
same to the Ringmaster, and he report their decision to the
Secretary and then proclaim the names of all persons entitled
to premiums.

9. Judges are requested to pay strict attention to the
conditions governing the class in which they judge, and ren-
der their decisions accordingly.

10. No person except judges and members of the Associa-
tion will be allowed in the ring while the stock is being
exhibited.

11. The gates of the amphitheater will be closed ten min-
utes after the call of the Marshal for each class of stock.

12. No stock will be allowed to enter the ring unless under
halter and in care of a groom.

13. If any person makes known to the judges his owner-
ship of stock or article, or pedigree thereof, they shall not be
entitled to a premium on said stock or article.

14. Where premiums amount to ten dollars, it will require
two or more entries to ﬁll the ring. When the premium is
over ten dollars and not more than twenty dollars, it requires
three or more to ﬁll; all over twenty dollars will require four
or more to ﬁll the ring.

15. All premiums will be paid in current money if not
otherwise stated.

16. All harness horses or mares, two years and over, will
be required to be shown in harness.

17. Cattle, hogs, sheep and poultry are left in care of their
respective attendants. The Association will not be responsible
for their safety.

18. Stockholders of the Association must apply to the
Secretary for their proper badges before the Fair begins.

19. A member complying with the preceding rule will be
allowed free entrance with his family, which will consist of
wife, unmarried daughters and sons under twenty years
of age.

20. Entrance fee will be ﬁve per cent of premium for all
ring exhibits. No entrance fee will be charged in Floral Hall.

21. Where there is no competition only the ﬁrst premium
will be paid.

TROTTING, RUNNING AND BICYCLE RACES.

1. All trials shall be governed by the rules of the National
Trotting Association, of which this Association is a member.

2. We require ﬁve to ﬁll and three to start. Entrance
fee 5 per cent of purse’ to accompany the nomination, and 5
per cent deducted from money winners.

3 Entries in the Trotting Purses will close August 31 at
11 o’clock p. In. And all entries to the Running Purses will
close at 10 o’clock a. m. on the same day of the race.

4. All purse and stake money to be divided as follows: 60
per cent to the ﬁrst horse, 25 per cent to the second horse, and
15 per cent to the third.

5. No horse will be entitled to but one money in case any
horse is distanced or disqualiﬁed.
