Dr. Fred W. Rankin,“
Lexington, Kentucky.
My dear Fred:
I congratulate you on being elected President
of the American Medical Association. I assure you that
no living person rejoices with you any more than I do.
» It is an outstanding honor and one which, in my judgment,
you most certainly merit.
I was talking to Watt today about this honor
coming to you, and both of us agreaithat we fully expected
you to be fresident of the American Medical Association
sometime, but our fondest hopes did not picture your attain-
ing this high honor in your youthful days. It is really y
a great joy for me to know that this great honor has come
to you.
My health continues to be normal. I am able
to do as much work as I ever did, though I am inclined to
be a little lazy. I think of you every day, and always
with the thought that you saved my life.
With every good wish, I am
- Gratefully and sincerely yours,
