my dear Fred: I
N I want to write and express my sincere
congratulations to you on your election to the
Presidency of the American Medical Association.
I know this is a little late coming to you but
by no means represents any intentional over-
sight on my part.
I think it is just wonderful that this
great honor should come to you at a time in
your life when it is most appreciated by all
your friends, and I for one take a areat deal
of pride and sense of vindication for the O
opportunity of friendship I have so strongly
held out for you during some of the past years
in which you had your big battle to fight.
Mary joins me in affectionate regards to
Edith and to you.
Faithfully yours, ‘
  ’ R. L. Payne, H. D.
