Brigadier General F. W. Rankin, ,
Office of the Surgeon General,
War Department,
Washington, D. C. \ ,
' My dear Fred:
with the whirl of Christmas and the s0—called holiday
season, I have put off writing you a note on your promotion
to Brigadier General. It is a fine tribute and I can assure
you that it has been received by the medical profession as
, a promotion which is really merited, and it must be a .
satisfaction to you and particularly to the family. It is
a tough job and one that needs to be well done, and I am
aware of how much the Surgeon General and the personnel in
the Surgeon General's Office appreciate what you are doing.
I just wanted you to know how pleased I was that the
sacrifices you have made and the splendid way you have filled
that position, have been recognized in this elevation to the
rank of Brigadier General.
With kindest personal regards and all good wishes for
the New Year,
simsfiii?
