ABOUT THE LIBRARIES
LSO Picnic _
Although response to the picnic announcements has been good, there
is still room for the procrastinators to sign—up. The picnic will
be held, Friday, June 23 at Keeneland. The gathering of the clan
will begin at 3 PM. Please send the sign-up sheets to Emily
Lihani in Acquisitions. The attached map shows picnic and Parking
areas. ·Please notice the rules and obey them! Volleyball, bad-
minton, and softball equipment will be available.
Added Attraction at Picnic
At 4:30 PM there will be a volleyball match between the M.I. King
-Kongs and the Special Collections Super Gnomes. Volunteers welcome.
Dinner (or supper if you prefer) will be immediately after the
'volleyball game.
Bill Bull is LSO Vice—President
The new Vice-President of the Library Staff Organization is Bill
Bull, whose home base is the Newspapers and Microtexts Department.
Summer Softball Team ·
All softball players are invited to attend a short meeting, Monday,
June 19 at 4 PM in the Conference Room, Acquisitions Department,
2nd floor, King Library North.
I Notice to June Travelers V
The last day for the library to submit 1977/78 travel to the
University for payment is July l0. Therefore, it will be appreciated
if people taking a trip in June could have their receipts in to
Administrative Services by July 5 so that they can submit the
necessary paperwork to the University by that date. Thank you.

The building engineers will be checking the fire alarm system on

Accident Reports
· The University Safety Department has reminded units on campus that
they need to report all accidents, regardless of the severity.
Any staff member, patron or visitor injured in the Library needs
to fill out a Standard Accidental Injury Report which is available
through the Director's Office. Once the person has completed the
form, the Director's Office will see that it is submitted to the
University.
Trudi Bellardo Delivered Management Paper
Trudi Bellardo attended the ASIS Mid—Year Meeting in Houston, Texas,
May 21-25, and delivered a paper entitled "Resu1ts—Oriented Manage-
ment: Focus on Organizational Objectives and Priorities,"
co-authored with Dr. Thomas J. Waldhart.
Research Universities Report on Reserve
Research Universities and the National Interest: A Report from
Fifteen University Presidents has been placed on reserve at the
Circulation Desk in Mr. Willis' name. One particular chapter of
interest to librarians is: "The Major Research Libraries:
Strengthening a National Heritage," pages 89-107.
