I And How Does Your Garden Grow?
I The Government Printing Office estimates that one inch of filing space
contains 56 diazo microfiche in individual fiche envelopes, with a
weight of 8.5 ounces. One inch of horizontal filing space contains
43 fiche envelopes with 83 microfiche packed two per envelope, with
a weight of ll.5 ounces.
Kentucky SOLINET Users' Group
An organizational meeting of the Kentucky SOLINET Users' Group will I
be held on Tuesday, April 24 at l:0Opm in the Gallery. Jane Starnes
SOLINET Asst. Training Coordinators, will be guest speaker. All
interested persons are encouraged to come.
Open Employee Meetings
University Administration has asked the Employee Benefits Committee to
hold open meetings on three committee recommendations that have been
forwarded for consideration. These meetings are being scheduled expressly
for the purpose of obtaining employee input on these three recommendations
before any final action is taken. The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday,
April 24th as follows: l:30pm - Student Center Auditorium; 7:00pm -
Seay Auditorium. The committee's recommendations to be discussed in
both meetings are Option for Early Retirement, Retirement Age for
Employees, and Deferred Retirement Benefit.
Library Faculty Nominating CommitteemReport
At the next meeting of the Library Faculty May l8, members will be asked
to select a representative to fill the unexpired term of Susan Csaky
on the Administrative Committee. Before they do so, they will be asked
to decide whether the one selected will serve merely the summer months
or the following year since this one is almost completed. The Committee
wishes to propose the following persons listed alphabetically: Larry
Greenwood, Gail Kennedy, Jane White. Nominations may be made from the
floor but only if the one nominated agreed to serve. The Committee is
composed of Judy Sackett, Harry Gilbert, and Bess Clotfelter.

Time Management
I A summer in Time Management for Library/Media Personnel is offered in
response to indicated needs. This is one in a series of continuing
education workshops and seminars being developed under the aegis of
its Community and Junior College Roundtable of the Kentucky Library
Association. Other sponsors of this study are the University of
‘ Kentucky Community College System and the Lexington Technical Insti-

Locating Census Data in Printed Reports
The purpose of the workshop is to provide basic information on Census
Bureau programs, products and services and to promote a better under-
standing of Census Bureau statistics. Persons who have had little or

COMUTENCEMENT
The University Senate Council is urging everyone to be on hand for this
year's Commencement, Saturday, May l2. As faculty members, we have the
privilege, as well as the duty, to be a part of the academic procession,
to show that we have had a part in the intellectual and professional
maturity of these young people. As invaluable supporting members of
the University community, we can show our pride in them and in our role
by·attending the Commencement exercises.

Pompeii...What Was It Like to Live There? Mason Hammond explores the
city, its mores, its people Wednesday May 2. The occasion is the annual
meeting of the Harvard—Radcliffe Club of Kentucky. See Mr. Willis for
imfermation about guest invitations.
The Bngineering Library has prepared an exhibit of Nuclear Power Plants.
Books and other materials from around the library system are the basis
for the display. Maps giving locations of plants around the world '
show the source of the approximately lO% — 15% of the world's electric
energy. _
