PRESERVATION PLANNING PROGRAM ENTERS PHASE II
The Preservation Planning Program Study Team has completed its
background paper and is ready to begin the second phase of the
* study. Five task forces (Environmental Conditions, Collection
( Conditions, Organization for Preservation & Inter—institutional
Cooperation, Disaster Control, and Resources & Funding) are being
formed to examine various preservation issues as they affect the
Libraries. Each task force, chaired by a member of the study
team, will prepare a report on its topic by October 15.
Phase II will officially begin with the second visit of Dr. Mi-
, chele Cloonan, our preservation consultant, on July 9-10. During
her visit, Michele will meet with each task force to help plan
its timetable and activities. The third phase of the planning
program will concentrate on the preparation by the study team of
a final report and long-range preservation plan for the Libra-
ries. The planning program is scheduled to end in December.
All task force members will be supplied with a copy of the back- ‘
ground paper written by the study team. For a copy, contact Judy
l Sackett, Preservation Department, 257-3493.
